Axis Mundi

The travellers do not hear the music: rather, that they have an intuition concerning a music which the human ear cannot hear, an intimation of the coming into being of the axial. As it emerges from a distance that is incalculable, the axial in formation passes through a stage where it is identified with a sonority that living creatures can no more than acknowledge as a meaningful silence. There is a certain kind of reality that can only be known as a gap or interruption - the gap or interruption intimating the existence of a reality that is accessible only as an unverifiable intuition.
